Resource Conservation
The Mitchell Freeway project team has adopted an innovative environmental strategy to protect the environment, conserve reserve precious resources, such as water and fuel, and to encourage re-use and recycling by all employees and contractors on site.
Noise, Dust and Vibration
Residents near the new freeway can expect to experience noise, dust and vibration from the construction works. The project team is taking every precaution to minimise this impact, including regularly watering and mulching the site to try and control dust, particularly in dry and windy conditions. Trucks hauling materials and equipment to and from the site will be confined to major roads.
Hours of Work
Work is generlly limited from 7am to 7pm Monday to Saturday. In rare cases, work may be necessary on Sundays, and relevant approvals will be sought and affected residents, businesses and others will be notifi ed well in advance.
Traffic Management Plans
Traffic management plans are in place to protect the safety and convenience of local residents and Main Roads will be monitoring their effectiveness, with support from Macmahon and the City of Joondalup. Large signs will also be erected at points around the freeway zone to keep motorists informed.
Property Condition Inspections
Macmahon has appointed licensed property surveyors Bradbury Sewell Pty Ltd to provide a free inspection of all homes, businesses and other premises within 100 metres of the new freeway. These inspections offer property owners peace of mind and provide an independent condition report to help resolve any concerns about property damage that may be linked to the construction activities.
